This module introduces to citizenship and history education a specific body of practice and learning theory. It engages with a powerful range of resources, including physical learning environments, online and printed resources, oral histories and visual archives. There is now considerable evidence that these make a significant contribution to the motivation and learning of students and teachers. The use of these resources opens up the curriculum and can provide a rich learning experience, in which participants have greater involvement and control over the nature and content of their learning than in formal educational settings.
