- develop your knowledge and understanding of theoretical approaches in psychology and the empirical research related to these approaches
- provide you with a range of skills based on the methods of scientific psychology, both quantitative and qualitative, to critically evaluate research data and also conduct your own research studies

We are in the process of applying for accreditation with the British Psychological Society (BPS) so that the BA/BSc will provide eligibility for graduate membership. Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS is an entry requirement for training courses for professional careers in psychology, such as educational psychology and clinical psychology. It will be dependent on students obtaining minimum lower second class honours.
Who are these programmes for?
People who would like to study in a department engaged in cutting-edge research in psychology with children, young people and adults that is located in the leading institution for educational research in the UK.
Entry requirements
Normally at least 300 UCAS tariff points (for example, A levels, BTEC, cache diploma or similar qualifications undertaken at Level 3) as well as minimum grade C in GCSE Mathematics or Statistics, and GCSE English.
How are you assessed?
By coursework assignments, examinations, and a research project.
Careers information
After successful completion students may decide to continue with their studies at Masters Level; train further to become chartered psychologists or choose other careers utilising their knowledge and skill of working with people, for instance in education; health and social care; management, marketing and human resources. Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the BPS is an entry requirement for training courses for the professional careers in psychology (educational psychology, clinical psychology, etc.).
