Course Content

This course prepares you for employment within the hairdressing industry. You cover both the practice and theory of hairdressing, undertaking all the basic skill areas including:

• Cutting
• Health & Safety
• Prepare salon treatment work areas
• Preparing for Hairdressing Services
• Shampoo & Conditioning
• Teamwork.

A period of work experience is offered. Progression to Level 3 can be studied on a Part-time basis and provides the opportunity for further creativity and employment opportunities. You may be required to continue to study maths, English or IT as part of your course.

Assessment Method

Continual Practical/Oral/Written Assessment and assignment.

Progression

On completion of this programme you will be well prepared for work in small private businesses, large city centre salons and aboard luxury liners. Self employment through salon ownership or franchising is also a possible option.

Approximate Kit and uniform £260. Additional educational visit/enrichment fees may apply. 19+ learners tuition fee £750 registration fee £50 (for 2 year programme for Level 1 and Level 2).

Entry Requirements

2 GCSEs (Grade D or above) including English or equivalent, and essential must have a sound knowledge of written and spoken English. Prior to undertaking this Level 2 qualification all learners will have successfully completed Level 1 in Hairdressing and have appropriate entry qualifications.
