This course is designed as a training programme and is suitable for those who want to pursue a career in the construction industry as a bricklayer.

Course Content

The course involves both practical training and theoretical activities and covers the following core units:

• Building methods & construction technology
• Cavity walling forming masonry structures
• Information, quantities & communication
• Setting out masonry structures
• Solid walling, isolated and attached piers Thin joint masonry and masonry cladding.
• The programme also includes: Tutorial, Enrichment and Functional Skills

Assessment Method

Synoptic practical tasks, a series of knowledge questions for each unit and a multi - choice online end test.

Progression

Successful completion of this programme will allow you to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying or to seek employment in the construction industry and study for a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Trowel Occupations - Bricklaying

Additional Information

Tools and materials are supplied by the College. Safety footwear is required for all workshop sessions. Study materials are required for all theory sessions. Department polo shirts are to be worn at all times.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Diploma in Bricklaying and a successful interview.
