The BTEC Level 2 Diploma is a practical, work related course and is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A

Course Content

You will take 4 core subjects:

• Applied science for technicians
• Mathematics for technicians
• Using engineering information
• Working safely You will also take 4 specialist units:
• Electrical maintenance fundamentals
• Fluid power fundamentals
• Maintenance procedures & planning
• Mechanical maintenance fundamentals You may be required to continue to study maths, English or IT as part of your course.

You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Assessment Method

Coursework.

Progression

This qualification helps you to progress on to higher level qualifications such as a Level 3 Diploma in Engineering or A-Levels. Alternatively it can lead to a range of Apprenticeships in Operations & Maintenance or associated trades in manufacturing engineering. The course also provides essential knowledge required for several NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Engineering Operations, Maintenance and Process Operations.
