The postgraduate diploma is achieved by successfully completing the first two years of study. The third year of study provides seamless progression to the masters qualification.

The programmes are designed in accordance with CIPD requirements and the postgraduate diploma can be achieved by successfully completing the first two years of study. The third year of study provides seamless progression to the masters qualification.

Course content

Certificate stage (Year 1) - The context for HRM, leading and managing people, people and talent management.
Diploma stage (Year 2) – Employee reward management, managing employee relations, human resource development.
Year 3 - Dissertation

Assessment

Assessment is through assignment work which includes examinations, case studies, group presentations, reports, a reflective log and company analysis.

Entry requirements

You must satisfy one of the following conditions:

i) hold an initial degree of the University of Wales, or another approved degree awarding body.
ii) hold a non-graduate qualification which the University deems to be of satisfactory standard for the purpose of postgraduate admission.
iii) have relevant work experience that is deemed to compensate the lack of formal qualifications and have held a position of management responsibility for a minimum of three years.

A candidate who has already achieved Grad CIPD Status from the current or previous CIPD Professional Development Scheme may be given permission to proceed direct onto the dissertation stage. 

Course length

3 years part-time 

The content of the programme emphasises the importance of linking theory to HR practice and takes a critical perspective on both current practice and likely future developments. 

The programmes are suitable for HR professionals and experienced senior or middle level  managers. Consequently they are likely to have relevant work experience as well as hold appropriate formal educational qualifications suitable for a masters programme, It is intended to develop or enhance professional competence in individuals who are already experienced and who wish to build on that experience through a structured programme. 

The Postgraduate Diploma and MA Human Resource Management are part-time programmes that are designed for professional specialists who have chosen to focus their careers in the HR/personnel function. The courses include the academic elements to facilitate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) which is Europe’s largest professional Institute for those involved in the management and development of people.
