This full-time one year course will lead to an NVQ Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations, and a City & Guilds Certificate in Engieering (2850), both of which form the basis for all engineering qualifications and the ones which future employers will expect you to have. You will also undertake Functional skills in Maths, English and IT, and other industry-related short qualifications. The City & Guilds qualification is assessed through a combination of evidence-building and on-line multi-choice exams. You will be at college approximately 3 - 4 days per week.
Additional NotesMaterial fees are levied to cover the high cost of metals. You will be provided with safety boots and eye protection.
Entry CriteriaYou will need to achieve GCSEs at grade D or above in Maths, English and a Science. You will also need to be able to work with figures, have good hand-skills and be computer literate. Candidates with GCSE passes at grade C or above may be exempt from Functional Skills.
Progression DetailsThis course could lead on to a level 3 course to further hone your skills, or perhaps to an apprenticeship or employment.
