NEET programmes

If you didn’t get the Maths and English grades you wanted and are undecided about your career goals then why not join one of our NEET programmes? We can help you work towards the Maths and English qualifications you need in order to progress onto a vocational programme. Throughout our programmes you will also experience a range of vocational taster sessions that will help give you a better idea on what career you might want to pursue in the future. These sessions will be a great way for you to learn new practical skills and develop your problem solving and team working skills. Our programmes aim to offer flexibility where possible to enable you to gain the skills and confidence you need for the future. The vocational tasters may include subjects such as art, media, computing, catering and sports. There might be opportunities for new students to join in year so please contact the College if you are interested.

Students may be encouraged to participate in trips and other activities, and a contribution may be requested. Some aspects of the course will be assessed through short tests, exams, written assignments and portfolio work.

No formal qualifications required. Learners will be accepted based on interview and references if requested.

During your time at the College we will provide you with careers support and guidance in order to help you plan your future career goals. Students will be encouraged to progress onto another course within Gloucestershire College at a level to suit their needs and potential. Alternatively, students will be given advice in job seeking skills, should they wish to find employment with further training.

This is a new course which was set up in January 2013 to meet the needs of NEET learners. Following the success of this course we will be offering it again in September 2013. Students on this course successfully achieve English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications. Several students have also had opportunities to explore vocational areas and gain specific units and / or qualifications.

Learners have been very positive about the course and their comments reflect this: 'I really enjoyed the course because I could build up my hours when I was ready.
