Description

Being part of the Falck group of companies has provided Falck Safety Services with significant benefits in the expanding wind power business sector. In November 2011, we officially launched our industrial training unit in Teesside, which has state-of-the-art facilities to cater for offshore wind farm safety training.  We are now leading from the front in providing dedicated safety training for the wind and renewable sectors.  

This course is designed to refresh for those intending to use fall protection equipment to

access the Nacelle on a wind turbine, and focuses on hazards and risks that are inherent in

this type of activity. The course also focuses on emergency rescue and escape from wind

turbines using dedicated equipment.

The programme is designed to meet the initial offsite training and assessment requirements for

personnel working at heights on company operations

A valid RUK or GWO Working at Height and Rescue Certificate or a valid RUK or GWO

Working at Height and Rescue Refresher Certificate

Candidates should be medically fit and capable of working at height

A valid RUK or GWO Working at Height and Rescue Certificate or a valid RUK or GWO

Working at Height and Rescue Refresher Certificate

Candidates should be medically fit and capable of working at height

Contents:-

Planning operations - includes safe systems of work, rescue from nacelle/tower/hub and

emergency procedures

Characteristics and limitations of PFPE - harnesses, lanyards, travellers etc.

Requirements for inspection, storing and maintaining personal fall protective equipment

Selection and use of personal fall protection equipment

Climbing fixed ladders fitted with fall arrest systems

Climbing with lanyards and associated safety equipment

Pre syncope (Suspension trauma) and post fall care

Rescue and escape equipment, characteristics and limitations

Emergency evacuation/escape techniques from the nacelle

Ladder rescue techniques

Nacelle rescue techniques (internal and external)

All successful candidates will receive a RenewableUK approved and a Global Wind

Organisation approved certificate valid for 2 years.

Certificates must be renewed within 2 years of the date of assessment
