In this course, you'll learn to use the latest software, video and animation to create a wide range of creative content: from DVDs and mobile phone designs to games, web sites and responsive environments. If engaging with your audience through technology presses your creative buttons, a Bachelor in Interactive Media Design is for you. This highly technical creative career requires a combination of skills. You'll learn the theories behind interactive design, as well as an understanding of the different types of digital media, such as digital audio, video, 2D animation and 3D visualisation and animation. In terms of technology, you'll learn to use the software packages that are considered standard in the industry, including Flash, Final Cut, After Effects, Autodesk Maya, Motionbuilder and Protools. What's involved Based over four years, the course will involve lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions and independent study. Year 1 Introduction to Human Computer Interaction, Software Development 1, Introduction to Interactive Media, Introduction to the Information Profession, Digital Imaging, Optional Module Year 2 Sound Theory, Introduction to 3D Design, Practical Interaction Design, Digital Video Development, 2D Computer Animation, Optional Module Year 3 Digital Storytelling, Animation for Interactive Media, Web Design and Development, Sound Production, Intermediate 3D Design, Group Project, Optional Module An optional placement is available during Year 3.
