Teaching and assessment

The CIMA programme at DMU is designed to keep your weekdays free for work and your weekends for play!

Each course (non-Certificate) will be run over an 11 week sequence of 4 hour evening sessions (other than E1 & E2 which are 10 sessions each). These 11 sessions will be composed of 7 sessions of tuition (equivalent to 4 full days of tuition), 3 sessions of revision (equivalent to 1½ full days of revision) and 1 session of question practise/Mocks (equivalent to a ½ day of question practise).

The tuition sessions will be evenly allocated to the learning objectives based on the official CIMA syllabus structure weightings. The materials being used will be the officially recognised CIMA study materials. There will only be one course per evening so no clashes.

On top of this, 2 further revision and question practise sessions (the 12th and 13th) will run in February/August for CIMA papers (if required) following the exam sitting for those who failed, to aid them pass the resit exams in March/September so as to continue their progression.

These resit sessions are free of charge if an 80% attendance level has been maintained and the resit exam has been booked.

Course modules

There are five levels in CIMA’s syllabus. Exemptions are available at the discretion

of CIMA. Leicester Business School expects to offer classes according to the following course:

  • CO1 Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • CO2 Fundamentals of Management Accounting
  • CO3 Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
  • CO5 Fundamentals of Business Economics
  • CO4 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

Operational level

  • P1 Performance Operations
  • E1 Enterprise Operations
  • F1 Financial Operations

Management level

  • P2 Performance Management
  • E2 Enterprise Management
  • F2 Financial Management

Strategic level

  • P3 Performance Strategy
  • E3 Enterprise Strategy
  • F3 Financial Strategy

CIMA T4 Part B – Case study

The final paper involves an exam based on a case study set in a simulated business context of one or more fictional organisations. The context in case materials is based on a real business or industry.

Graduate careers

You could take up various accounting positions in business, either partly or fully qualified.

Fees and funding

The all inclusive course fees for each paper for 2013/2014 are:

  • Certificate level £350
  • Operational/Management level £400
  • Strategic level £450
  • T4 £795
  • Exam resit days £95 (if criteria for free entry are not met)

The fee includes the official CIMA study text and revision kit. Fees may be paid in instalments by direct debit and arrangements can be made at enrolment.
