The course can be undertaken by existing gas operatives who hold ACS competency in CCN1 who require no training and wish to add or renew their competency in Cen/\wat 1 (Boilers/Water heaters).It can also be taken by qualified plumbing operatives (NVQ Level 2 or above) who have gathered a portfolio of on-site gas training have undertaken adequate theory training are gaining competency for the first time in CCN1 and also want to add Cen/Wat 1 to their qualifications.

The objective of this course is to allow you to be assessed on your general knowledge/skill of the Gas Safety Regulations procedures and British Standards which must be applied when carrying out work on gas installations.

The objective of this course is to allow you to be assessed on your general knowledge/skill of the Gas Safety Regulations procedures and British Standards which must be applied when carrying out work on gas installations.

The training is designed to provide candidates with the understanding and skills relating to the installation exchange disconnection service and repair of domestic gas central heating/hot water boilers and circulators up to 70 kW net.

For those taking this qualification for the first time a multiple choice theory exam together with a practical based assessment will be undertaken whilst if you are renewing you will only carry out the practical assessment.You will be assessed on the following:
Gas safety regulations
British standards and manufacturer instructions
Operation of safety components and controls
Appliance servicing
Recognition of appliance defects
Flue assembly, flue testing, case seals and terminal positions
Ventilation
Appliance commissioning checks

You will need to already hold ACS competency in CCN1 with less than 6 months before renewal is due or an NVQ plumbing qualification or equivalent together with an on site gas training portfolio and adequate theory training. If re-assessing before the assessment may be undertaken you must provide evidence in the form of past certificate in the following:CCN1 Core Domestic Gas Safety certificate and/or Cen/wat1 or Cen1 Wat 1 and CPA 1

The outcome of the course is for you to prove competency in Domestic Gas Safety in accordance with UKAS CITB and Gas Safe requirements. This will allow you to carry out work within this area.
