This course develops and enhances your professionalism in a business context. It develops personal skills alongside knowledge acquisition and its practical application.

This BTEC course is a practical work and business-related course. All units are assessed through written and oral assignments. There are no exams. You ‘learn by doing’, i.e. completing projects and assignments based on real businesses in the area.

Team activities, visits to local businesses, entrepreneur competitions at university, visits to SAID Business School, research tasks, presentations, volunteering opportunities, discussions, debates and work placements are all part of the way you learn.

There are two options to consider when starting a Level 3 Business course. These are:

- 90-credit Diploma – 1 year (equivalent to 1.5 A-levels)
- Extended Diploma – 2 years (equivalent to 3 A-levels)

Your entry qualifications and progression route will help us to identify which is the most appropriate for you.

When you leave this course you will have improved and gained skills in report writing, time management, team working, self-confidence, decision making, ICT and more.

Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have:

- at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including some subjects related to the proposed area of study), and/or a completed Level 2 award
- the willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification in English and/or maths

If you are interested in a Level 3 programme and have alternative qualifications you would like us to consider, please contact us with your details. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an initial assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Successful completion can lead to trainee management positions in business and commerce. Many individuals progress to higher education, either direct to university or through the HE programme at City of Oxford College (see the Foundation Degree in Business and Enterprise).
