About This Course:This course is designed for hairdressers seeking an advanced certificate which will develop their creative hairdressing skills, technical knowledge and give them the opportunity to design and create hairstyles. The course also includes building a portfolio which will involve you using computer aided design skills as well as selling skills.
During the course you will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities including visits to local museums, trade fairs and exhibitions.
What You Need:- Basic computing skills.
- Successful completion of SVQ 3/SCQF Hairdressing 6 or equivalent NQ units or a minimum of 5 years industrial experience.

- You should be working in the hairdressing industry.
- Entry will be based on a successful interview.
- You will be required to buy relevant items of professional equipment essential to the course.
More Information
What You Study:A selection of core units includes: Creative Design in Hair Cutting; Colouring, Incorporating Colour Correction and Innovative Design; Communication.
A selection of optional units includes: Long Hair Design; Managing a Small Business; Alter the Shape of Hair by Temporary and Permanent Techniques.
After The Course:Career
On successful completion of the course, you could operate your own business. Apply for employment on-board cruise liners, apply for lecturing posts in Further Education or as a Company Technician/Trainer.
Continuing Study
Apply for entry on to HND Make-Up Artistry.
How Long:One year, starting in August on a Monday and Tuesday.
