This is an introductory course for students who want to explore a career in horticulture. Basic techniques and skills will be taught to enable you to start work as a gardener or landscaper and to move on to Level 2 courses and beyond. An opportunity to work as a team What will I Study? Health and Safety, tean working, loading and unloading, basic plant knowledge, basic landscaping skills and border maintenance. Most units are taught as practicals, with plenty of opportunities to develop your practical skills. There will also be maths and english training, and an emphasis on employability and enterprse skills How will I be Taught? A mix of practical training in the grounds, greenhouses and workshop and some teaching in the classroom. We will use the Colleges grounds and estate, but also use computer rooms when needed. How will I be Assessed? Most units have a combination of practical tasks and tests of your knowledge. You will be trained, have practice assessments and given every chance to pass each unit during the year. What our students say? This was a great place to start, and Im now moving onto learn more at Level 2. A great year working as part of a team
