knowledge of the wide range of living things and an understanding
of the life processes that they all share in common. These
processes, collectively termed metabolism, enable species to
survive in their environment, to reproduce and to evolve. AS
Biology involves a general foundation in all these processes and

Chichester we study the OCR syllabus. Five Reasons to Study this
Course at Chichester 1. Supportive and innovative team of teachers
2. Teachers have relevant industrial as well as teaching experience

laboratories 5. regular additional activities such as science club
and STEM activities What will I Study? At Chichester you will study
the OCR syllabus. There are two units examined by written
examinations in June: Units F211-Cells exchange and transport. This
includes study of cell structure and function, the cardiovascular
system nd the respiratory system in mammals as well as transport in
plants; Unit F212 -Molecules, Biodiversity, Food and Health,
including the study of biological molecules, the immune system and
infectious and non infectious disease. There is also a practical
unit (F213) examined by a set of internally assessed practicals
(ISAs). How will I be Taught? By a combination of theory and
practuical sessions. You will also be expected to carry out
independent research and study. How will I be Assessed? By two
written examinations in June and a series of internally assessed
practicals throughout the year. What our students say? The biology
course is interesting and fun and we cover a wide range of topics.
Our teachers are always willing to help us with extra booster
sessions and individual support.
