Summary:

GCSE Maths is a 1 year course.

The specification for this course is Edexcel GCSE Mathematics A (Linear) this means that there are 2 exams at the end of the year in June. The classes are 3 hours long and once a week, available day and evening.

It is possible to take GCSE Maths alongside another course such as Access to Higher Education.

This part time course will confidence in, and a positive attitude towards Maths. It will also enable students to recognise the importance of Maths in their own lives and society. It could also provide a vital stepping stone to Higher Education.

Students should be working at Level 1/2 after an initial assessment has been completed at interview. Those who are not currenlty working at this level with be encouraged to take Functional Skills Maths Part Time first.

Core Skills:

You will cover a range of topics e.g. General Arithmetic, Algebra, Shape and Space , Data Handling

Assessment:

You will sit two exams which are externally assessed at the end of the course in June.

Academic Progression:

Many university courses require A-C grade GCSE Maths.Many vocational course also have this requirement.

Career Progression:

Many employers require Maths GCSE grade A-C at recruitment.
