The programme aims to provide real business experience, as well as visits to overseas business and institutions. In 2013 students are visiting New York.

Course Code: F4028 Start Date: 14/09/2012 End Date: 30/06/2014 Course Length: Standard length is Two Years Course Schedule: 1.5 days per week (equivalent) , 30 weeks per year Entry Requirements:

You will normally need 120 UCAS points, A'Levels, AVCE, OCR Diploma in Administration, BTEC National Diploma or Certificate. We welcome applications from people who have good work experience in lieu of formal qualifications and who show the aptitude to succeed. If you have completed an accredited Access to HE course you can take a BA (Hons) or Foundation Degree course. We will discuss the most suitable course for you to take at your interview. Other criteria such as relevant work experience (subject to interview). You will need to be currently employed in a business environment in order to be able to complete Skills for Work modules.

Core Skills:

This course is offered as part of a modular, credit-based scheme which is comprised of modules of 10 and 20 credits. The modules include:

  • Managing Organisations
  • Law and Business Agreements
  • Managing Information
  • Environmental Management

Work Load

You will be embarking upon a challenging course. You will need to balance your personal situations (home and paid work) with the amount of degree work required to cover during the course. You will need to attend lectures and related workshops. Furthermore you will need to conduct private study after these sessions. This could be an extra 12 or more hours per week (depending on how well you organise your private study).

Assessment:

Assessment methods include assignments, projects, presentations and examinations.

Academic Progression:

Those completing the Foundation Degree in Business Management will have the opportunity to continue on to the BA (Hons) Business Management or a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management.

Career Progression:

This is well-recognised qualification will assist you in finding employment in the business and public sectors or, if you are in work, will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to your organisation and thus the possibility of progression into and through supervisory and management roles.

Full Description:

The FdA in Business Managment will take place on a Thursday or Friday (9-6). There will be some evenings (as agreed with students and staff).

During the course there will be lectures, demonstrations, presentations, seminars, group work, simulations, case studies and self study are the principal methods of teaching and learning. These take place at St Andrew's House in Norwich, a modern, professional learning environment. The emphasis on Work Based Learning (Skills for Work) means that this is a truly vocational programme and will enable you to both ground your learning in the work place and to reflect on work practice in an academic context. Students will be expected to receive practical and enabling support from their employers/organisation.
