Full TimeAll learners will cover a programme that includes units to develop their fitness, practical sports performance, knowledge of the human body and sports injuries and planning and leading sports activities. The Post 16 WBQ (Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification) will also be major part of the course and will be integrated into the programme. The Post 16 WBQ give greater breadth to students learning, providing the skills and personal qualities that employers and educational establishments are looking for. How you will gain the qualification
All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded at pass/merit/distinction level.
What qualifications you need
The following will be accepted as entry criteria to this Level 2
programme:
• 4 GCSE’s at A* - D, including English Language.
• BTEC L1 sport/Public Services, supported by an improved
standard in Literacy and Numeracy eg. Agored courses, with a
recommendation from your tutor
• A related L1 course supported by two GCSE's at Grade D, and an
improved standard in Literacy and Numeracy eg Agored courses with a
recommendation from your tutor
• Students enrolling on this course at Deeside site are required to apply for DBS clearance.
Where to next
A Level 2 Diploma prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding to go on to a more advanced course such as a BTEC level 3 diploma. For those of you who are considering progressing to the BTEC level 3 diploma in sport, the entry requirements are as follows: At least a merit in a relevant Level 2 diploma, AND grades C or above in GCSE English Language and Maths or Science.
