Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET)
General information
This course is suitable for students wanting to gain the internationally recognised Cambridge Preliminary English Test (PET) qualification in English for speakers of other languages. PET is an intermediate level qualification in English that opens the doors to opportunities for work, study and travel. PET is set at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and shows that you can use English to communicate with native speakers for everyday purposes. The course will teach you to:
- deal with everyday events
- read simple textbooks or magazine articles
- write letters on familiar subjects
- take notes in a meeting

Course content
The programme includes:
- preparation for the Reading & Writing, Speaking and Listening papers
- vocabulary and grammar development
- exam practice
Teaching and assessment
Classroom work combines reading, writing, speaking and listening skills with a focus on vocabulary and grammar. Regular exam practice takes place throughout the course.
Entry requirements
Students should have passed the Cambridge KET exam, or be assessed to be at an intermediate level.
Progression
Students can progress to the Cambridge First Certificate Examination.
Dates and times
This course begins in September and runs for 32 weeks. Students will attend the College for 10 hours per week.
