The AAT was formed in 1980 and is sponsored by four UK Chartered Accountancy bodies. They are the world's largest dedicated professional body for qualified Accounting Technicians and people employed in a variety of accounting and financial roles. The Association's qualification is appropriate for all finance and accounting staff undertaking financial and accounting duties, whether in industry and commerce or the public sector, or in the offices of practising accountants. It is a highly regarded qualification and the Association is growing rapidly. There are three criteria for membership of the AAT: proven competence, a minimum period of approved work experience and evidence of suitability for membership and commitment to the Association. The scheme is divided into 3 stages of competency: L2 Certificate in Accounting, L3 Diploma in Accounting, and L4 Diploma in Accounting. Students wishing to complete the Technician qualification need to achieve NVQ 3 in Accounting.

Teaching and assessment
Computer Based Assessments (CBA) and Computer Based Projects (CBP)
Entry requirements
AAT Foundation or AAT Level 2 in Accounting or equivalent Level 3 book- keeping qualification. Entrance test and an interview will also be required.
Additional course costs
£266* for Computer Based Assessments. Fees payable to AAT are: Admission fee £38* Student Annual Membership Fee £82* *Subject to amendment
Please note that there are no fee concessions available for this course. Fees must be paid before the start of the course.
Progression
AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting
Dates and times
This course begins on 18 March 2013 and September 2013. The March start course will run on Mondays 9.30 - 5.30 until the end of the summer term and will then switch to Wednesdays from September onwards. The September start course will run on Wednesdays 9.30 am to 5.30 pm.
