ACCA Levels

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification is a globally recognised accountancy qualification. It is a badge of quality and professionalism, and ensures that your knowledge and skills are of the highest professional standard.

Entry Requirements

You need a minimum of 3 GCSEs and two A levels in five separate subjects including maths and English or equivalent qualifications to start the ACCA qualification.

If you don't have the minimum qualifications you can start by registering for Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) and study for one or all of the entry-level qualifications. There are three qualifications, and you can start at any level.

The ACCA Qualification consists of 4 modules, grouped into two levels:

Fundamentals Level (F1-F9)

The ACCA Knowledge Module (Papers F1 Accountant in Business, F2 Management Accounting & F3 Financial Accounting) will have a syllabus update and an exam format change from February 2014.

There are also some syllabus changes to papers F1 and F3 also effective from February 2014. To find out more about these changes and what they mean for you please visit our webpage.

Knowledge module (F1-F3) is made up of three papers and introduces you to the core areas of financial and management accounting as well as general business principles and theories. They are assessed either by Computer Based Exams (available when it suits you) or by paper based exams in June and December.

Skills module (F4-F9) consists of 6 papers covering a range of core areas of Accountancy including Tax, Financial and Management Accounting and Audit and is the first level of the professional qualification and is positioned at an intellectual level equivalent to a Bachelors degree. They are assessed by three-hour written exams, in June and December.

Professional Level (P1-P7)

Essentials module explores advanced professional skills, techniques and values that you will require to act as an expert accountant in an advisory or consultancy role at senior level. They are assessed by three-hour written exams, in June and December.

Options module is the fourth level set of exams in the qualification, where you choose two papers from four, allowing you to specialise according to your chosen career path. They are assessed by three-hour written exams, in June and December.
