Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at electrical operatives/engineers within companies who have specific responsibilities with regard to the inspection and testing requirements BS7671 : 2001, Guidance Note 3 and the Electricity at Work Regulations. Electricity at Work Regulations has enforced the need for electrical engineers to maintain the electrical installations within the control to a level that no danger can arise.

All candidates should be practising electricians, from either maintenance, or an installation background. The 17th Edition should be completed prior to the 2395 and familiarity with the Wiring Regulations is certainly a requirement.

As you cannot be insured against non-compliance with statutory regulations, it must be ensured that all inspection and testing is carried out by a competent person. Records should be kept of regular inspection and testing programmes.

  • Functional testing of residual current devices
  • Prospective fault currents
  • Certification – Electrical Installation Minor Works Certificate/Electrical Installation Certificate/Electrical Installation Condition Report

Delegates are required to purchase the following publications, it is essential that individuals bring each book to the course:

The assessment at the end of the course consists of a 2 hour written examination, an On line test and a 2 hour practical assessment. At the end of the programme successful candidates will receive a City and Guilds 2395-01 Level 3 Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations. This is an essential requirement for NICEIC registered Qualifying Managers.

How will the course be delivered?

Through classroom based activities alongside a tutor and other delegates at a similar level. The course runs to demand on various dates throughout the year.

Course Entry Criteria

Qualified Electricians working in the industry, who may want to continue with professional development or update knowledge of techniques & legislation. The 2395 is also required for anyone (with C&G 2360/2330/2356 or equivalent ) wanting to gain JIB approved electrician status.

Current 17th Edition qualification (candidates must bring a copy of their certificate on the first day of the course).

The City & Guilds 2395 is a complex qualification. Therefore this course is ideally suited to candidates who have an electrical qualification or alternatively candidates who are active in the industry and have experience and a good understanding of and knowledge in domestic & commercial electrical inspection & testing. Candidates with less experience are strongly advised to take the C&G 2392 Fundamental Inspection & Testing.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

  • More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
  • 4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
  • 2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
  • 1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
  • Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost

All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

You will receive a City & Guilds Certificate upon successful completion of the training.
