What will I study?

Initially, you will enrol for one block of evening tuition. The total amount of time you need to qualify will be determined by your level of experience and how much self study time you have. You will study the CISCO Networking Academy CCNA on-line curriculum and develop practical skills through lab exercises and design tasks. The course content is as follows:

  • Semester 1 - You will learn about networking technologies and standards, in particular LAN design, installation and troubleshooting. As well as P.C. hardware, operating systems and network protocols.
  • Semester 2 - Covers router configuration and troubleshooting
  • Semester 3 - Covers LAN switching, VLAN design and further router configuration
  • Semester 4 - Covers WAN design, ISDN AND Frame Relay

The dates below do not necessary equate to one CCNA semester – you may need more or less time. You can choose to take either one large exam at the end of all four semesters, or two smaller ones after semesters two and four.

How will the course be delivered?

With a blended delivery you will have 6 sessions in college giving you the opportunity to use our CISCO equipment. In addition to this, most students need to put aside 5 weeks of self-study. The scheduling of the 6 taught and 5 self-study weeks is dependent on the need of the group.

Course Entry Criteria

A good understanding of computer hardware is essential. It is desirable that you also have a good working knowledge of PC based local area networks.

It is essential that individuals have an adequate level of English to understand the information delivered by the tutor and to be able to read, write and understand the exam paperwork (if applicable) By signing this document you are declaring that you, or the individual, agree that their English skills are at an appropriate level. If it becomes apparent that an individual does not understand the content, the individual may not be able to complete the course, or may increase the risk of failing the exam (if applicable), but the individual or employer will still be charged the full fee.

The college operates a no refunds policy as detailed below. Cancellations and transfer requests are subject to the following conditions:

More than 4 weeks notice – no charge
4 weeks notice – 30% of the cost
2-3 weeks notice – 50% of the cost
1-2 weeks notice – 75% of the cost
Less than 1 weeks notice – 100% of the cost
All cancellations must be made in writing and are subject to a £10 administration charge. The full fee’s policy is available on request.

What will I get at the end of the course?

CISCO CCNA Accredited certificate upon completion of the examinations. The exam costs are approximately £150 each but the actual costs are determined by the awarding body.
