The factors that facilitate and create barriers to health improvement. 3. The principles of behaviour change and maintenance and of how to apply them in helping people to make changes. 4. The responsibilities associated with handling confidential and sensitive information. 5. Methods that may be used to evaluate a programme to promote healthier lifestyles. This award covers:

  • The role of health training in the workplace and the community
  • Basic models of behaviour change and how to use these to help people
  • The barriers to health improvement
  • How to access further information and assistance

Entry Requirements

The course is relevant to health professionals working in pharmacies, sports centres, care homes, colleges, schools, and anyone concerned with the well-being of the people in their community. This qualification is intended for people who work with others in a health related activity or in a staff welfare capacity.

Delivery & Assessment methods

10 hours of teaching with a 45 minute multiple choice exam at the end.

Progression

It is the first step towards becoming a fully qualified Health Trainer.
