Description

This subject develops students’ knowledge and understanding of accounting theory. It also develops their accounting analytical skills which can then be applied to assessing practical accounting problems and providing solutions to these accounting issues. The focus of the course will be on understanding the accounts private sector organisations including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Delivery & Assessment methods

Each unit is assessed by an external examination. AS examinations are 1.5 hours in length and students are required to answer four questions. A2 examinations are 2 hours in length and students are required to answer four questions. Examinations take place in January and June. Students must pass at AS level to progress onto A2.

Progression

The qualification is normally studied alongside other A Levels and successful completion will help gain entry to higher education or employment.
