This innovative course provides a comprehensive understanding in biomass energy. Entry RequirementsIt is essential that your Initial Assessment results show that you are working towards Level 3. You will also need to have achieved 4 GCSEs at grades A-C, including English, Maths and Science or equivalent.
This is a progression route for learners who have successfully completed the Level 2 Certificate in Sustainable Energy. It is also appropriate for learners who have experience of working in the renewables sector and/or who are interested in developing their skills and knowledge in this area.

- Energy management in the renewables industry
- Team work in the renewables industry
Energy from Biomass:
- Boiler technology in the renewables industry
- Environmental management in organisations
- Maintenance of biomass fuel systems
- Producing biomass fuel from non-woody resources
- Wood fuel supply for energy creation
- First aid for the renewables industry
Functional Skills
You will also work towards nationally recognised functional
qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
Successful learners may progress on to a Foundation Degree or Degree programme (please see our University Level online course guide for more information).
Alternatively students may wish to undertake an environmental apprenticeship at Bicton or gain employment in the biomass and renewables industry or wider land-management sector.
