Who is this course for? Adults aged 19+ recovering from mental health difficulties that are at a stage in their recovery where they are able to benefit from being and studying at college. This module is one of many on our Community Link course. Students are expected to choose a selection of modules to make up a full programme. What qualifications or experience do I need ? Who is this course for? Adults aged 19+ recovering from mental health difficulties that are at a stage in their recovery where they are able to benefit from being and studying at college. This module is one of many on our Community Link course. Students are expected to choose a selection of modules to make up a full programme. What qualifications or experience do I need ? People should be at a stage in their recovery where they are ready to make a commitment to the course, attend regularly and be able to cope with the college environment. What will I study ? The classes will not only help you improve your written English and your reading but will also make you a more confident speaker and listener. You may feel that your reading and writing is limited, or you may be a confident user of the English language who just wants to brush up their skills or learn aspects of English that you missed at school. It may be that you feel good about your English language skills but never got any qualifications in the subject and feel that now is the time to do so. Groups will be small and all students will be expected to work towards a certificate. How will I be assessed ? By an examination. There will be opportunities to re-sit. What qualifications could I achieve ? Functional Skills English Levels E1-E3. What can the course lead to ? Progression to mainstream courses, training,, volunteering and/or paid work How do I join the course ? Initial contact should be made by a mental health professional or GP working with the applicant, who will return a referral form to the course organiser Will I need an interview ? Yes Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Not for students from Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. There may be a termly charge for students living outside these boroughs. This is expected to be paid by your Community Mental Health Trust.
