Introduction to Digital Photography

Who is this course for? Anyone who wants to improve their photography skills and understand their Digital Camera. What qualifications or experience do I need ? No formal entry requirements but an interest in Photography and a commitment to improve your Photography skills is essential. Basic computer knowledge is also required. What will I study ? -Health and Safety Induction -Basic controls of your digital camera including apertures and shutter speeds -How to improve composition, portraits and landscapes -Understanding resolution, which is image quality and memory size -Downloading photographs onto a computer -Intro to Apple Mac computers -Manipulation of images -Intro to Photoshop - There could be one or two trips to take photographs and visit relevant exhibitions, however, this is at the discretion of the tutor. How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be through a Portfolio of work What qualifications could I achieve ? College Certificate. Also opportunity for credits against Foundation Degree modules. What can the course lead to ? Students will have the basic skills to progress onto other Photography courses such as Photoshop for Photographers and Advanced Photoshop. Also progression onto further Foundation Degree modules, a full time course or training/employment How do I join the course ? Postal, Telephone or enrol in person Will I need an interview ? No Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Students should have their own digital camera and memory stick. If not the tutor can offer advice on purchasing a Digital Camera to suit your needs.
