Who is this course for? The course is for individuals interested in developing their understanding of drama and performance skills to an undergraduate level. Students will study full time for two years and achieve a Foundation Degree (FdA) at the end of the Foundation Degree. What qualifications or experience do I need ? * BTEC Level 3 National Diploma or relevant A Levels equal to 100 UCAS points * Grade C or above in GCSE English (or the equivalent Key Skills Communications or Functional Skills English at Level 2) * Applications from mature students without formal qualifications with relevant professional experience are welcomed. * Overseas students will need to demonstrate an IELTS of 6 or above. What will I study ? This modular course gives you the opportunity to explore: * Drama and contemporary theatre * Devising and new writing * Contemporary performance techniques * Theatre technology and production skills * Critical and analytical skills * The business of the arts Students will often work as a small scale theatre company and several of the projects will involve working within the community and with professional practitioners. Students will be encouraged to research and explore current performance technique and methodology and to apply these skills to their performances,developing the craft of performance. How will I be assessed ? The programme uses the Middlesex University assessment regulations. Assessment is an important part of the learning and teaching process. The intention of the team is that students have a clear understanding of achievement and strategies for improving progress and performance. Assessement is formative and on-going to provide regular feedback. Grades and marks are awarded on the completion, submission and participation in specified asisignment requirements. All Level 1 modules will be marked to a pass grade. Assessement and feedback points will be indicated on assignments and your course calendar. All Level 2 modules allow for students to achieve Distinction, Merit and Pass grades. All units for the second year area are graded and an overall grade is awarded for the qualification. Progression into Year 2 is dependent on completion of Year 1 modules. What qualifications could I achieve ? Foundation Degree (FdA) in Performing Arts Drama and Theatre Production from Middlesex University. What can the course lead to ? On successful completion of this course and subject to interview and audition you may be able to progress onto the third year of a Middlesex University Honours Degree - BA (Hons.) Theatre Arts or BA (Hons.) Professional Practice. You may also be eligible to continue your studies to Honours level at another University of your choice. Alternatively, students may wish to apply for employment or consider starting their own business. How do I join the course ? You will need to apply through UCAS. Students applying after 15th August should complete and return a Barnet College application form to Admissions at the Barnet College Wood Street site for an interview/audition to be arranged. Will I need an interview ? Yes * Take part in an audition - details to be sent. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? You will be encouraged to visit the theatre regularly, drawing on London's rich and vibrant performance scene. European visits may also be scheduled into your programme - your tutor will advise. Further Information Students may be entitled to a Barnet College bursary of up to �1,000 a year. Middlesex University provides a range of student accommodation.
