Who is this course for? Anyone who already understands the basic controls of a digital SLR camera and has already started building up a portfolio of photographic work. This course would suit people who want greater technical control of their cameras, who want to learn more about lighting and who want to improve the visual style of their photography. What qualifications or experience do I need ? No formal entry requirements needed but an experience of basic SLR photography and basic computer knowledge is required. A commitment to improve your photography skills is essential. What will I study ? Health & Safety induction, full manual control of your digital camera, studio flash lighting techniques, improving visual composition, understanding resolution, manipulation and enhancement of images in Photoshop. Their could be a field trip to take photographs or visit relevant exhibitions, however, this is at the discretion of the tutor. How will I be assessed ? Assessment will be through a portfolio of your work and through individual feedback. What qualifications could I achieve ? The opportunity to gain credits against a National Diploma course. What can the course lead to ? Students will have the skills to progress on to a Level 3 Diploma course or Foundation Degree in photography. How do I join the course ? Enrol online, by post or telephone, or enrol in person. Will I need an interview ? No Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Students should have their own digital camera and memory stick. If not, the tutor can offer advice on purchasing a digital camera to suit your needs.
