Who is this course for? Anyone with an interest in Science. Applications are particularly welcome from women and men who may have had little opportunity to study science at school but have an interest in science and a science-based career. Applicants must be at least 19 years old at the start of the programme. What qualifications or experience do I need ? None. What will I study ? The programme is especially designed to prepare mature students to enter Higher Education. You will study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics as well as being given the opportunity to improve your communication and Information Technology skills. Students will have regular Tutorial Support throughout the year. How will I be assessed ? Each subject is divided up into units. These units are assessed partly by continuous assessment of practical and written work and partly by short tests and terminal examinations. What qualifications could I achieve ? You will achieve the nationally recognised Access to Higher Education Diploma (Radiography) accredited by the awarding organisation OCN London. What can the course lead to ? Students completing the course will be qualified to enter a degree course at a University, most of which recognise Access qualifications. Although the course prepares you for a degree or other HE course in Radiography, you will be able to use the qualification to gain entry onto other healthcare related courses. How do I join the course ? You must attend an interview with a member of the Course Team and complete two short assessments in Numeracy and Literacy. Will I need an interview ? Yes. Are there any extra costs for equipment/materials ? Candidates will need to have a lab coat for use during practical exercises, particularly in Chemistry. You will also need to purchase course text books. All of these would be available from the Laboratory Technicians. Further Information All enquiries should be addressed to Terrence Thomas or Andrea Finesilver, the Course Co-ordinators.
