Indian Head Massage Certificate

Learn how to perform an effective Indian head massage in this intensive short course. You will attend college one evening a week participating in classroom practical and salon sessions to gain hands on experience of this wonderful treatment.

The units you study are:
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
- Indian head massage methodology, effects, benefits, anatomy and physiology

Learning is by discussion, activities, lectures and workshops. Assignments and homework will also be set. The remaining time will be spent within the practical working salon to practise and perform the practical application of this type of massage.

There is a strong emphasis on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to be completed in partnership with other students on the programme. You will also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for you own learning.

The qualification you gain is the VTCT Diploma in Indian Head Massage and Health and Safety.

You also develop wider skills vital for success in further study or employment, including self confidence, working with others, taking responsibility and time management.

This course is open to beauty therapists and motivated individuals. Ideally you will hold an anatomy and physiology qualification. Your offer is subject to a short interview and commitment to full attendance.

You can progress to other therapies - Swedish body massage, for example - or you may decide to provide treatments for family and friends. The course could help you find work in a salon, leisure complex or spa too as it is a fully recognised qualification.

Around three hours of home study a week is required for successful completion of the course.
