Description

This is a three-day first aid training course which gives you the skills to deal with an emergency safely and with confidence in the workplace. If the assessment of first aid needs at your workplace highlights the need for qualified first aiders, this course will provide the correct training.

You study a range of subjects on the course including:
- legalities, responsibilities and reporting
- assessment of the situation
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- fractures and spinal injuries
- shock (including anaphylaxis)
- control of bleeding
- resuscitation
- bandaging
- heart attacks
- choking, head injuries, shock, eye injuries, poisoning, chest injuries
- strains, sprains, burns, asthm…

All students are assessed by independent assessors on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR and who is wounded and bleeding.

Learning activities include theory and practical sessions.

Subject to assessment all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate (and wallet card) approved by the Health and Safety Executive. This qualification is valid for three years which can be renewed by attending a suitable refresher course.

No prior qualifications required although courses are restricted to 12 students students must be a minimum of 14 years of age.

On successful completion of the course you will be required to attend a refresher course of two days. It is recommended that you attend a three-hour refresher annually.
