Description

This course looks at basic life support. You learn how to put an unresponsive casualty (who is breathing) into the recovery position. You learn how to handle an unresponsive non-breathing casualty too.

You study a range of subjects on the course including:
- arriving at the scene
- assessment of casualty
- top-to-toe survey
- recovery position
- resuscitation
- hygiene control

Learning activities include theory and practical sessions.

On successful completion of the course you will gain confidence in dealing with an unconscious but breathing casualty, and a non-breathing casualty. There is no formal assessment although students will be observed and assessed throughout the course. Students…

No prior qualifications required although courses are restricted to 12 students.

On successful completion of the course you will be able to apply for the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or the three-day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualifications.
