Beauty Therapy (Electrical) NVQ Level 3

This course covers Level 3 beauty electrical skills - facial electrical, body electrical, body massage with stones epilation, false tanning, and anatomy and physiology - along with professional employment development, health and safety standards, and selling skills.

Beauty treatments for the electrical route include: G5 audio sonic galvanic microcurrent epilation, high frequency microdermabrasion, faradic and vacuum suction. Related business studies, integrated professional employment, development and functional skills are included in your learning.

Other course activities: visits and demonstrations, complementary studies.

You will gain a full Level 3 beauty therapy qualification, along with the skills and confidence to work in a salon, spa or cruise-liner environment.

Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have:
- at least four GCSEs at grade C or above (including some subjects related to the proposed area of study) and/or a completed level 2 award
- the willingness to study for an additional level 2 qualification in English and/or maths

Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Career destinations include positions in health farms, health and beauty salons, leisure centres in hotels or clubs, and cruise ships. NVQs in Beauty Therapy can also lead to specialist training (e.g. TV make-up, theatre work, or working for a cosmetic company), or direct entry onto a higher-education programme at university.

Continuous assessments are undertaken during the year which include oral written exams and practical assessments. Written assignments, case studies a evidence and working portfolios compile the requirements of the examining body.

This is a one-year full time course. 100% attendance is required by the examining body and the college to ensure successful completion. Learning activities include discussions, demonstrations and practical sessions.
