The emphasis of this course will be on speaking and listening.
You will learn key phrases and vocabulary in classic French that
are essential for day-to-day survival in French speaking countries.
Topics could include: introducing yourself and other people, giving
personal information, ordering food and drink, shopping, and asking
for and giving directions.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. As a

Who is the course for?
The course aims to introduce the French language and develop
your communication skills in basic, practical situations. It is for
beginners who intend to use the language on holiday or for work and
would like to take their first steps in learning and speaking
French.
Who is the course for and what level is it?
This course is designed to improve and sustain your language skills
keeping your mind active and alert.
The course is for absolute beginners who have no prior knowledge of
the language. If you are unsure of your level, please contact your
local centre for further assistance. Diagnostic self-assessment
sheets are available from the centres and at the website address
above.
What is your approach?
Working individually, in pairs, small groups, or as a whole
class, you will take part in a range of activities, such as
interactive games, quizzes, listening exercises, pronunciation
practice and roleplay. You will be encouraged to use the target
language as much as possible.

What will I need?
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning

What will I need for the first session?
Bring along a pen and some paper. We recommend having a folder or
ring binder for the course.
Are there any other costs?
At the first session your tutor will advise you about the purchase
of a textbook and/or dictionary.
