This product does not have fixed starting dates and/or places.
The course will begin with some basic sketching and drawing, it
will then look at abstracting line and form. Students will then
have a chance to work with colour and developing experiments with
mixed media.

Gain a wider art vocabulary.
This course will be supported by some basic Art History
presentations and student research.
Who is the course for?
This course is for students who already have some basic drawing
and painting, who would like to create a body of experimental works
to develop into future works.
What is your approach?
The session will be workshop style with group discussion and
some demonstrations or presentations from the tutor, which will
enable the individuals within the group to either use the
techniques that are being demonstrated or to use their own
initiative to follow the skills that they wish to learn. In this
way the classes can be used by the individual in order to grow in
their knowledge or to expand on the skills and interests that they
already have.
One to one feedback will be give during the course.
You will review your own progress through the work produced in your
sketchbook and portfolio.

What will I need?
For this session you will need a sketchbook preferably A3 (A4
minimum) hard back or ring bound.
You will also need a selection of art materials to experiment with
(please bring what ever you have):
Drawing materials and appropriate paper
Painting materials and paper
Other mediums; pastels, oil pastels, colour pencils, wax crayons,
inks, pens, felt-tips.
Textured papers, material, wool and threads
PVA glue.
You should also bring images of natural forms and some found
objects, that you can sketch and share with other students.
Please speak to centre staff who will be more than happy to put you
in contact with the tutor if necessary.
Don’t forget your lunch and a drink.
