What is the course about?Students will have the opportunity to develop their use of the
Windows 8, create documents with basic formatting and use File
Explorer. They will learn basic computer maintenance, an awareness
of Internet and computer security and use some of the Windows 8
built in applications.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. By
the end of the course you should be able to:

Who is the course for?
This course is an ideal follow on from the course ‘Windows 8 –
Bring your own laptop’ and is aimed at those who have some
knowledge of Windows 8. It is for those students who wish to gain
confidence in using their computer at home or at work.
What is your approach?
There will be demonstrations and explanations, followed by time
for you to practise all the new techniques you are being shown.
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.

For this course the computers will be using Windows 8 operating
system.
If it is important for you to be using a particular version of
software on your computer you must check with the centre at the
time of booking your course, that the version you wish to learn is
used on the course you are joining.
Use of removable Computer media
A number of Adult Education courses make use of computers and they
allow for the use of removable media either provided as part of the
course or brought in by students or tutors. This media may include
CDs, DVDs, USB memory sticks or digital camera memory cards.

the possibility of virus infection owing to the wide ranging use of

You will need to bring a pen, notepad and your laptop.
Please bring your laptop to every session with a fully charged
battery.
