COMPUTERS - ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
This product does not have fixed starting dates and/or places.
You will be introduced to the mouse and the keyboard and learn
how they help you communicate with the computer.
You will be shown how to use the toolbars and how to move around
the computer screen with confidence.
You will surf the Internet, test some search engines and look at
specific sites of interest including route planning, local area
information, shopping and research.
The content and outcomes of the course will be discussed with you
and may be adapted to meet your needs and those of the group. By
the end of the course you should be able to:

Who is the course for?
This is an Entry-level course specifically for people who have
not used a computer before or who have very limited
experience.
What is your approach?
There will be demonstrations and explanations, followed by time
for you to practise all the new techniques you are being shown.
You will have an opportunity to maintain an Individual Learning
Plan and your tutor will discuss your progress and achievement with
you throughout the course.
What can I do next?
You may wish to consider the Beginners Plus course as a
progression route. This course is designed to be a follow on to the
Absolute Beginners course and aims to increase your knowledge and
confidence in using computers.

For this course Aspire Sussex uses an external venue, for example,
a library, which has Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 on the
computers. If you have any queries on this please do contact the
centre at the time of booking.
If it is important for you to be using a particular version of
software on your computer you must check with the centre at the
time of booking your course, that the version you wish to learn is
used on the course you are joining.
