Level: Level 3
At AS Level you will learn about the different forms of cinema in Britain and America and focus on how storytelling and film communicate meaning and generate responses. You will use your academic knowledge in a practical way for your own production piece. The course also shows you how the film industry works in terms of marketing and funding and how films make money. The UK film industry is looked at in depth looking at British cinema and genre, as well as how ‘Britishness’ is represented on screen.
At A2 you will look at the wider world of film focusing on world cinema, foreign film culture, film history, surrealism and a chosen film at a greater depth.

The department has arranged a number of big projects to enrich and give students more opportunities outside of the classroom including feature film project and a site specific documentary project.
