The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bolton will equip you with the skills and knowledge for a career in the mechanical engineering profession ‚ a profession that is essential in so many areas of the modern world, including manufacturing, construction, energy, aerospace and automobile manufacture.Throughout the course, you will develop management and organisation skills alongside your subject-specific knowledge and understanding. Throughout the course, you will develop management and organisation skills alongside your subject-specific knowledge and understanding. Your studies will focus on particular areas of engineering such as mechanical design, systems engineering, analysis of materials and structures, and the theory and application of finite element analysis.
You will study the theory and practice of mechanical engineering, and carry out case studies, practical and laboratory work and problem-solving projects. You will also develop the presentation and managerial skills that you will use to manage engineering projects and support your future career development in the industry.
The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering is one of a series of programmes offered by the University of Bolton that runs within an integrated MEng/BEng format. These courses share modules at levels 1 and 2 and the routes diverge at level 3 where this course offers dedicated BEng (Hons) modules. It is therefore possible to transfer at the end of level 1 to our BEng (Hons) Automobile Engineering if you so wish.
This course has recently been reviewed and reconfigured by the University with a view to gaining accreditation from the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE). The course has been designed to meet the academic requirements leading to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Please see the Engineering Council UK website for further details.
