You will be taught the skills required for the assessment, monitoring and management of the acutely ill patient alongside the study of anatomy, physiology and pathology. In addition, you will study legal, professional and interpersonal issues such as leadership communication in emergencies and the importance of incident debrief.
You will learn through a series of simulated patient scenarios, including live simulations, in which you will be expected to participate. Each scenario will present a series of challenges to assist you in relating theory to practice and encourage you to consider your understanding of the clinical circumstances. A spiral curriculum will develop in which you will encounter similar problems in the same domain and this will serve to reinforce your knowledge and transferability of skills.
This module provides initial training as well as post qualifying education that supports the Department of Health‚s Modernising Critical Care agenda.
