BA (Hons) English at the University of Bolton is essentially a programme of literary study, on which you will be introduced to a rich and varied range of writing in English, mainly from the 16th century to the present day. Several modules also include writing that has been translated into English from other languages (e.g. French and Russian 19th century novels, ancient Greek tragedy, French symbolist poetry).

The majority of the classes are relatively small compared to other universities (a typical seminar might have 10-20 students), which means there is generally a closer, more friendly relationship between students and staff.
