Forklift Truck Instructor Tutor
Learn how to effectively train and assess Category 1 Forklift Instructors.
The course is ideally suited to qualified instructors who have had at least 12 months experience in training novice operators and are registered Category 1 ITSSAR Instructors.
A fully trained Tutor is expected to meet the following performance criteria:
- Unit 1: Health and Safety – Provisions for Training
- Unit 2: Role and Responsibilities of the Instructor
- Unit 3: Qualities of the Instructor
- Unit 4: Preparation and Planning of Training
- Unit 5: Instructional Techniques
- Unit 6: Job and Skill Analysis
- Unit 7: Visual Aids
- Unit 8: Practical Instruction

These modules are assessed during Category 1 Instructor Training Courses.
- Stage 1: Attend a 10 day Instructor course at TAL, observing our Tutor.
- Stage 2: At a later date, attend 10 day instructor course at TAL, to assist our tutor.
- Stage 3: Set up a 10 day course at your own Training Centre with guidance from our tutor. This will need to be monitored by ITSSAR and will require a qualified tutor to be in attendance for part of the course – the exact duration to be arranged at the time.
- Stage 4: The delegate conducts at least one 10-day Instructor Accreditation course at his own training centre, unaided. (if he fails to achieve the required standard, further unaided 10 day courses must be conducted until the standard is met).
