This course is for school leavers or anyone seeking employment in the plumbing industry who is not already employed by a plumbing company.
During your studies you will learn mainly through practical activities, which are supported by theory sessions. These will build-up your skills until you are ready to undertake the assessment tasks. You will build and test plumbing systems, form and solder using copper tube and work safely throughout.
The course covers the following topics:
- Plumbing principles and processes
- Hot and cold water systems theory
- Pipe bending and jointing
- Installation of pipework and sanitary ware
- Maintenance of components
- Health and safety

Certificate in Basic Plumbing Studies

Entry Requirements:
Interview required
4 GCSE's grade D or above. Vocational qualifications will be considered on their own merit. You will be required to successfully pass an interview showing enthusiasm and commitment towards this course. Individual cases outside of this criteria will be considered on their own merits.

Progression from this course:
On successful completion of the City & Guilds 6129 Certificate in Basic Plumbing Studies, students who successfully find employment can progress onto NVQ Level 2 Plumbing. Alternatively, suitable applicants may progress onto a level 3 technical certificate.

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information.
