Unit 2 - Geographical skills
- Investigative, cartographic, graphical, ICT and statistical skills.
A2 level (year 2)
Unit 3 - Contemporary Geographical Issues
- At least one of: Plate tectonics and associated hazards, weather and climate and associated hazards, ecosystems: change and challenges.
- At least one of: World cities, development and globalisation, contemporary conflicts and challenges.

Candidates analyse and evaluate their fieldwork in response to the
questions set. In addition, candidates will be assessed on
fieldwork skills.
Or: Geographical Issue Evaluation
An advance information booklet is pre-released 2 months prior to
the exam to facilitate candidates research into an area which
extends from the specification content.
Unit 4 - Geographical skills
- Geographical skills
- Identifying a suitable geographical question or hypothesis for
investigation
- Developing a plan and strategy for conducting the
investigation
- Collecting and recording appropriate data
- Presenting the data collected in appropriate forms
- Analysing and interpreting the data
The teaching methods are varied and include formal lessons
supported by discussion, visits, field work, video-tapes and
data-response exercises. Homework is regularly set.
End Qualification:
Year 1: AS Level Geography
Year 2: A2 Level Geography
Entry Requirements:
Interview required
5 GCSEs at grade C or above including GCSE geography, GCSE English and GCSE maths.
Assessment:
Unit 1: 2 hour written exam - 70% of AS (35% of A2)
Unit 2: 1 hour written exam - 30% of AS (15% of A2)
Unit 3: 2 hour 30 mins written exam - 30% of A2
Unit 4: 1 hour 30 mins written exam - 20% of A2

Course Costs:
All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials/resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees).
