Plant Assessments
On site assessment is for operators who are experienced in operating the equipment they are to be assessed on, and must not be confused with training. To this end guidance on the level of competence required before assessments can be carried out on site is set out below.
Plant Assessments can be carried out for operatives with prior working experience on the relative piece of plant. Prices are calculated on an individual basis dependant upon the number of plant items, the site location and type of certification required. Maximum of 6 assessments per day.

Operators Requirements
- The operator must be over the age of 21 and have at least two years experience in operating the equipment he or she is to be assessed on
- A good knowledge of the equipment to be operated. This will include details of load envelopes, rating plates, safe working loads and safe working practices.
- They are advised to have attended a Safety Awareness Training Course in the previous two years.
Site Requirements
- An area large enough to manoeuvre and operate the equipment, free from pedestrian traffic and general public.
- Uninterrupted attendance by the operators under assessment
Loads to be moved:
- Forklift – a number of palletised/unit loads
- Forklift – facility for high lift, at least 75% of the maximum machine lift
- Dumper – loose material for use in loading dumper
- Excavator – an area for excavating when excavator assessment is required
Please note: These assessments can only be carried out on machines
that comply entirely with the relevant statutory provisions.
