Safe Entry into High Risk Confined Spaces

Course Aim:

To cover the knowledge and skills required to work safely in a confined space wearing a self contained open circuit breathing apparatus in which a specified risk and/or other hazard may be present.

Overview:

At the end of this course students should be able to:

1. List work environments that may be classed as being a confined space
2. Describe common hazards associated with working in high risk confined spaces
3. Identify relevant equipment that may be utilised when working in a high risk confined space
4. Demonstrate relevant checks on relevant equipment used for working in high risk confined spaces
5. Demonstrate correct pre-use checks and donning of open circuit breathing apparatus
6. Demonstrate correct procedures for entry/exit of high risk confined spaces
7. Demonstrate correct procedure to be adopted if an emergency situation arises within the confined space
8. Demonstrate after use servicing of open circuit breathing apparatus in accordance with manufacturers recommendations
