Emergency First Aid at Work Course (EFAW)
Course Aim:
To give instruction in the procedures required in the event of person(s) taken ill or injured in the workplace.
Overview:
By the end of the course students should be able to:
- Know the action to take in an emergency situation
- Know and demonstrate basic life saving techniques
- Diagnose and deal with injury and illness in the workplace

Appreciate the reasons for using the recovery position
Specific Objectives:
By the end of this session students should be able to:
- Define the aims of first aid
- Identify hazards to respiration
- Demonstrate how to examine an unconscious casualty
- Demonstrate the correct procedure of placing a casualty in the recovery position

- CPR
- Wound and bleeding
- Burns and scalds
General Objectives:
By the end of this session students should be able to:
- Perform CPR
- Understand the treatment for bleeding
- Understand the treatment of burns
Specific Objectives:
By the end of this session students should be able to:
- Demonstrate the treatment for bleeding
- List three signs of a heart attack/cardiac arrest
- Explain the treatment for burns
